A Night Celebrating Blessed Fulton Sheen
Inaugural Sheen Awards Bring Together Leaders in Entertainment, Media and Evangelization for an Extraordinary Night Celebrating Blessed Fulton J. Sheen.
PEORIA, IL - Just one day after the historic Beatification of Blessed Fulton J. Sheen, the celebration continued in his hometown of Peoria with the inaugural Sheen Awards.
Hosted by Bishop Louis Tylka and emceed by actor, filmmaker, and producer David Henrie, the evening brought together an extraordinary group of voices from entertainment, media, evangelization, and the Church—including Jonathan Roumie, Bishop Robert Barron, Bishop John Barres, Siobhan Fallon Hogan, Katie Prejean McGrady, Paul J. Kim, and many others.
The Sheen Awards were created in the spirit of Blessed Fulton Sheen, who understood the power of communication to reach people and share the Gospel. The evening celebrated individuals and organizations using storytelling, creativity, media, and evangelization to bring faith into the culture and help others encounter Jesus Christ.
“The Sheen Awards were created with that future in mind. We want new generations to discover Sheen, understand why his approach to media and evangelization was so groundbreaking, and be inspired by his example to use the platforms of their own time with the same creativity and courage.”
— Royce Hood, Chief Operating Officer, Diocese of Peoria
And this is only the beginning.
