St. Mary’s Cemetery

421 N. Sterling Ave., West Peoria, IL
Archbishop Fulton Sheen’s tomb is located at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Peoria, Illinois. After spending time in prayer at his tomb and his museum which is located at the Spalding Pastoral Center, you may wish to visit the graves of his parents and grandparents, who are buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery, where Sheen's former pastor, Msgr. Culleton (picture below) also rests.

St. Mary’s Cemetery is also home to the Bishops’ Mausoleum. Entombed there are several former bishops of the Diocese of Peoria: Bishop John L. Spalding, Bishop Edmund M. Dunne, Bishop Joseph H. Schlarman, Bishop John Baptist Franz, Bishop Edward W. O’Rourke, and Archbishop John J. Myers.

Archbishop Sheen visited this cemetery many times during his life, making it a meaningful and popular stop along the “Sheen Trail.”
